This subwoofer was designed around a down-firing Tang Band 6.5 inch subwoofer driver. It is a ported bass reflex enclosure with the port firing forward. The goal was to have a relatively small and elegant looking subwoofer that can fit into most home environments.

This subwoofer can easily be integrated with a pair of stereo speakers or the sound bar project that is also available on the this website for purchase. The subwoofer design includes a plate amplifier that can be set to 2.1 or 0.1 output. This provides you with the ability to then use this subwoofer with any system or other amplified speakers or just set it to 2.1 and connect a pair of stereo speakers. The output of the specified plate amplifier is 30W+30W stereo, and 60W for the subwoofer channel.

When following the build plan for purchase (https://www.soundblab.net/build-plans/), it can easily be built with everyday woodworking tools, and even by someone with beginner woodworking skills. The construction follows butt joints.

When following the build plan, the end result should give you a speaker that will have the following approximate specifications:

Power Output: (Mono) 60 Watts (4 Ohms)

Bass Principle: Ported or Bass Reflex with approximate -3Db of 35Hz

Approximate Size (W x H x D): 240 mm x 400 mm x 209 mm
