Description

This is my favourite (up until 2023 of course) 2-Way stand mount speaker design yet. It features a tweeter in a waveguide for wide dispersion and a racetrack shaped passive radiator for deep bass. It’s a great value for money build, and it sounds fantastic! The SEAS tweeter in the waveguide allows us to cross this driver lower to the SB Acoustics 6inch woofer for better integration and off-axis dispersion, resulting in a wide soundstage and very good imaging. Bass extension is approximately 51Hz at -3dB and will extend into the mid 30Hz in room. Parts will be in the US$400 range, and then you must also add material and finishing cost for the enclosures, but you will end up with a speaker that could easily sell for US$1000 commercially.

When following this build plan, the end result should give you speakers that will have the following approximate specifications:
