Description

This Line Array speaker was designed around the Tang Band W6-1139SIF 6.5 inch subwoofer driver in a passive radiator enclosure. Each array consist of 5 Dayton Audio DMA58 8 Ohm drivers and a Dayton Audio ND20-FB 4 Ohm rear-firing tweeter. The goal was to have a small but powerful line array speaker system that has very good horizontal off-axis response for a wide soundstage, and a narrow vertical response to reduce reflections from the floor and ceiling. When following this build plan, it can easily be built with everyday woodworking tools. However, I suggest that you have intermediate to advanced woodworking skills, and are able to read a schematic diagram and have experience with wiring layouts of parallel and series wiring circuits. The construction follows butt joints. Finishing the MDF is up to you and you can follow my build exactly, or opt for a birch plywood or even solid wood enclosure, as long as you stick to the exact internal and external dimensions of the enclosure.

When following this build plan, the end result should give you speakers that will have the following approximate specifications:
